Meet the Woods
Matthew, Kali, Laurel, Eleanor, and Caroline serve in Medan, Indonesia with LCMS International. Matthew supports The Indonesian Christian Lutheran Church (GKLI), by mentoring pastors, providing continuing education, and overseeing translation projects.

A Reluctant Return
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic the Indonesian Government implemented a new online visa renewal process and shut down the immigration offices in Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital. Our visa renewal application got held up in this new online system and we could not get it resolved. Visa renewals often get held up for one reason or another. In sane times it could be cleared up with a short trip to Singapore or Taiwan, but these are not sane times and the only country open to American travelers without a work permit is America. So we are on our way back and focusing on the silver lining.
