UPDATE FROM THE WARREN FAMILY

Dear friends, family, and supports,

We pray that you are well during this time of chaos and uncertainty in our world.

We wanted to give you an update on how the COVID-19 virus has changed our life in the Dominican Republic and our work in the region.

Right now we are sheltering in place which means we are staying in our house except for occasional trips to the grocery store or walks around our neighborhood.  Blake is currently working from home in his upstairs office.  All of our missionaries are “sheltering in place” which has shifted the way we work to bring the Gospel to those we serve in the field.  This has lead to increased collaboration across the region and the implementation of many new technology tools.

The Dominican Republic, like many other countries, continues to see an increase in the number of cases.  The government has taken many steps early in the process in an effort to reduce the impact of the virus.  A curfew was implemented countrywide last week, which means no one is allowed out of their houses during certain hours.  Yesterday these hours were extended to 5pm through 6am.  This has lead us to reschedule some of our regional meetings to allow a small window of exercise time before the earlier curfew.

Blake spent a lot of last week helping different missionaries who were traveling get back to their country of service or shelter in place in their current location when travel bans began to be enforced. As of this morning we have everyone in their medium term location to continue sheltering in place.
