Christmas and New Years in the Dominican Republic

During the holidays we enjoyed a visit from our family. It was so wonderful to have family here to share the holidays and to share our life. It was such a blessing for Abraham to be able to play with his cousin and share Christmas with his extended family. Abraham is growing like crazy. Every day he is a little bigger and a whole lot smarter. He is very vocal, although we are still waiting on language development. He has 6 teeth now and another one coming in. The missions here all had special Christmas services and meals to celebrate together. The youth group in Palmar Arriba put on a play for the congregation on Christmas eve to tell the nativity story. In Pueblo Nuevo the congregation brought in gifts to give to children in need. These were given to a family from the church, the son of a seminary student and the local hospital. It was a great way for the congregation to be reminded that the Lord has given us much in his arrival to this world, and so we can also give to our neighbor in love.

a BIG Thank You to all of YOU our Donors!

Thank you to all those who were able to send us a Christmas or end of the year donation. Thank you to all those who have helped us get to this point and serve the Lord faithfully for six years. As another year begins we look forward to continuing in partnership with you. While we are the active hands and feet which go, we know that it would not be posible without your regular financial gifts and even more importantly your prayers. May the Lord bless each and everyone of you and continue to use you as a blessing to others just as you have been to us. Thank you.

a New Look for a New Year

It’s a new year and with it comes new projects both in the churches as well as in our home. The church in Palmar Arriba gathered together to paint and spruce up the sanctuary last weekend. Members of the congregation of all ages helped with the painting and cleaning. After all the hard work was done the congregation shared a meal together. In Pueblo Nuevo the building manager had some work done as well. The workers put in a new door to our location, and fixed the building’s elevator. The work crews left behind a lot of dust, which motivated the ladies of the church to have a ‘spring cleaning’ and spend time getting into all the nooks and crannies. At our house we had a water leak which led to a remolding of a bathroom, cleaning of the gutters, new sewage pipes and a re-flooring of the patio. We’ve had workers at our house every day for the last two weeks. We pray they are able to solve the water problems and finish quickly.

Library Project at the Seminary

At the seminary, the library project is all hands on deck. We had a librarian here for two weeks to begin to categorize all the books and create a call system. The students helped to put together bookshelves and unpack books. Hours were spent finding call numbers and creating a digital record of the books in the library. The books all still need label with their call number and information on the spine. The floor of the library is still covered in boxes and boxes of books which will need to be organized, entered into the digital record and given a call number. This is a BIG project. But it is also a BIG project in the sense of its importance for the students. Having a library is key to help them study, learn and grow as future pastors. Please pray for this continued effort, and if you know any librarians who might be willing to come down and catalog books for a week or two please let them know of the need! We would love to have extra hands to help with this project.

Please Pray with us for:

– Our Resdency Request in the Dominican Republic.

– The youth group in Plamar Arriba.

– For our Deaconess Students: Leonida, Mercedes, Shelia, Nini, Rosi, Olga and Yudaimy.
