Mercy Matters from the Mission Field
More time has passed yet with little time to stand still and reflect on all that has transpired. Since I last wrote you, I’ve traveled through ten states and two countries, been welcomed by wonderful congregations, schools, and recognized service organizations, and enjoyed fellowship with so many incredibly mission-minded church members, deaconesses, and pastors.
The last three weeks I have been in St. Louis, meeting with our missionary services team in the mornings for role-based training and spending the afternoons learning Romanian. Soon I will visit the Dominican Republic and Peru to work with a fellow deaconess missionary care coordinator and observe firsthand what missionary care on the field in action looks like.
While being on the move looks to be my future for the time being, I thank God for those brief moments where I can also stand still and witness the great glory of our Lord and all His works. The picture below was such a time. Taken at St. Meinrad Seminary (in southern Indiana) in early October, the same night when the northern lights were visible from Concordia Theological Seminary (in northern Indiana), a light shone down right where Christ hangs on a cross in the church.
Peace be with you,
Deaconess Melissa Pflug
