Dear Partners in Mission,

At the advice of LCMS International Mission, Joyce and I joined the American Embassy flight from Accra, Ghana to the USA on Wednesday morning, March 25. We arrived in Washington DC on Wednesday night. On Thursday, we took a flight to Michigan. The airports were almost completely empty of people.

We were able to rent a car and drive first to visit my parents who are living in complete isolation in Jackson, MI. Mom and Dad stood in their doorway and we stood about 10 feet away. We had a wonderful visit with them. My parents also brought out our warm winter coats and clothing and other things that we would need here in the USA. They put those things on the doorstep for us.

Then we drove three hours to a small, remote, rural community, Unionville, MI. My sister’s husband is the Lutheran pastor in Unionville. They have a lovely Bed and Breakfast apartment about a block from their parsonage, church and school where we can stay.

We have already been in communication with the church, pastors and individuals in Ghana. We will keep in communication with them throughout this time.

We will return to Ghana as soon as we can!

You can connect with us at: David.Erber@LCMS.org

We pray that God protected us from the virus as we traveled. However, we know our lives are in God’s hand.

Again, thank you for your prayers for us and for the church around the world!

David and Joyce

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 27.1
