Welcome to February 2020. We hope and pray you are doing well. Here are the latest updates from our family and within the Latin America region.

We had the opportunity to travel as a family to Puerto Rico in early December. Lizz led lettering workshops in Ponce and Mayaguez. The workshops were an outreach for the churches and part of the missions disaster response of healing through art program. Blake worked with the team on the ongoing disaster response effort following Hurricane Maria. We are currently in year three of a four year response plan that is focusing on spiritual and mental health care.

While in Puerto Rico we had the privilege to attend the very first church service in the new Ponce church building.

On January 7th Puerto Rico experienced a 6.1 earthquake. The city of Ponce experienced sever damage, including our new church building. Our region has sent several teams to help our missionaries on the ground with disaster response efforts. Blake went with the second team to help coordinate efforts and establish next steps for our church building and a temporary worship location.

Regional team met at Camp Concordia in Belize. The camp is being gifted to the Lutheran Mission in Belize to host short term teams and conferences in support of their church planting effort. Our team was able to use the facilities for our biannual meeting to discuss the work throughout Latin America.

"We may not have spoken the same language. We may have been raised in different cultures, and our scars may have come from different types of trauma, but what binds us together far exceeds all of our differences. We are makers. We were created in the image of our Father in heaven. Together we created. That room held wounded and weary souls, but in that room there was art, there was the Word of the Lord, and there was joy. "

Youth Events By Gods grace the churches in the DR continue to see growth. One of the new ministry opportunities is the monthly youth gathering. As one of the confirmed youth in the DR church, Abby has enjoyed spending time with the other youth from the various congregations.

Es la Vida snapshots of our life

We celebrated thanksgiving with our missionary family in the Dominican Republic. We had fun with friends in Puerto Rico and took an extra day to tour beautiful San Juan. We went back to the States for our first Christmas in four years. We had a great time with Lizz’s family in Tennessee.

- Thanksgiving for God’s continued grace, forgiveness, and protection in our lives.
- For protection and safety of our missionaries in the field and traveling.
- For Blake’s upcoming travels to St. Louis and Belize
- For the missionaries who have just deployed to the field.
- That God continues to bring partners to support our missionaries and projects throughout the region.
- For continued strength and renewal as we face challenges both big and small.
