“All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, But the word of the Lord remains forever.” 1 Peter 1:24–25
Dear Christian Friends, the Vanderhyde family has seen a good deal of change in the past few years. We like to comment on how life has been pretty much out of control since we got married. But our frazzled souls find rest in the unchangeable, the only God, whose Son took our weak, changeable flesh to the cross, so that he could transform our lowly bodies to be like his glorious resurrected body.
The pandemic has changed how our lives look. In March and May, we had to get used to not leaving our apartment. Now that things are opening up, we have to get used to life here all over again.
But more change is on the horizon! There’s a new little Vanderhyde on the way. “Baby sibling is in Mommy’s tummy.” Larson tells us he is very excited to hold baby sibling. We will deliver the baby, God willing, this December surrounded by family in Denver, CO. After the baby is born, we will move back to Saint Louis where we will begin our concluding studies at the seminary.
In the midst of this flurry of change, we thank God that his Word never changes. While we live in Sri Lanka, we have the duty and privilege to share that sure Gospel with people who desperately need a foundation for their lives. We pray that God would continue to mold and shape us into faithful witnesses of Christ.
This June we celebrated our four year anniversary. Our house helper Amudha and her husband and daughter surprised us with a cake and a gift a few days after the actual date when we visited them in their home. Here we are cutting the cake. Thank God for four wonderful years together!
This was Larson’s first trip out of our apartment after two months of continuous curfew. We got a treat at a bakery just around the corner.
For good health and safety, especially for Grace.
For safety as Benjamin begins to look again at travelling to teach in other parts of the country.
For a healthy pregnancy. That we are again able to meet in person for worship services.
God is working through these challenging times to make his kingdom come to the lost.
Thank you for your prayers & support
