Our Students from Uganda

This month we feature our students from Uganda, who are sponsored by The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. In our last LCMS Synod Convention, our two church bodies entered full altar-pulpit fellowship. These three men and two woman are preparing to serve the Lord in the Lutheran Church of Uganda, the men as pastors and the women as deaconesses.

Uganda borders Kenya to our west. It is part of the East Africa Community of nations. Our LCMS Africa team traveled to Uganda in October for continuing education. The subject was evangelistic outreach to muslims. The three-day event was time well invested for the sake of Christ’s kingdom.

Robyn and I wish you and yours a most blessed Advent and Christmas season. As this church years draws to a close, we are reminded that our Lord Jesus came to redeem us. He comes when we gather in his name to bless us. And he is coming again to gather us into his kingdom. Your prayers and support allow us to be here, to be a part of gathering in the harvest of those who are called by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

News from Robyn

My nutrition and embroidery course with the deaconess students is wrapping up for the semester. Final exams are right around the corner.

On Monday evenings, some of the ladies gather together for a Bible study. As they take turns leading the study, they each get practice sharing God’s Word with other women in a friendly environment. They usually use the readings for the coming Sunday, which becomes a preparation for hearing the Word of God preached at the Divine Service. It’s a great time of fellowship, as well as a time to practice a future deaconess role.

My own deaconess courses also keep me pretty busy. I just finished a course on deaconesses in the early Church. Now I am taking the first of two courses on the Lutheran Confessions. I’m sure learning lot!
