Freeman and Susan Rohlfing serve the Lord as missionaries in the Czech Republic. They teach English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. By teaching these classes, they seek to build relationships that allow them to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with their students who are members of the surrounding community and Palacký University. They also support a new Lutheran church plant effort of the Silesian Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Olomouc, since the nearest Lutheran congregation is about 80 miles away. Olomouc is mostly atheist with a mixed Lutheran and Roman Catholic history.
Freeman was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., and Susan was born in Lafayette, Ind. Their home congregation is Grace Lutheran Church, Columbus, Ind. Freeman received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in mathematics from Eastern Illinois University, Charleston. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Kenosha. He retired from a career in manufacturing computer systems application software.
Susan received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., and a master’s degree in elementary education from Indiana University, Bloomington. Susan taught kindergarten for 30 years in Bartholomew County (Indiana) schools. Freeman and Susan served on an English as a Second Language (ESL) mission trip to Poland in the summer of 2012. They have five children and six grandchildren.
Prayers
Pray for the people of the Czech Republic as Freeman and Susan tell them about Jesus. May God bless the seeds of faith being planted, and may His church continue to grow according to His will. Pray that God gives Freeman and Susan the strength, perseverance and wisdom to complete the work He has prepared for them to do. Let us give thanks to God that Freeman and Susan are serving His children in this part of the world.
