Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

I know, you were expecting to see a big photo of me arriving in Perú. To tell you the truth…I was, too! The phrase “expect the unexpected” has quickly become the best way to describe life in the mission field. This path contains all kinds of unexpected events, both blessings and challenges. There is some transition happening in the team in Lima and, instead of arriving in the middle of that change, we decided it would be best to extend my orientation, language and training with the regional team until things are settled in Perú.

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:10

While I am here in the Dominican Republic, I am also helping where I can with the local mission sites; using the talents God has blessed me with to encourage others on their walk with Jesus. Two weeks ago I hosted a team art and lettering afternoon for the women and children of the mission here in Santiago. What an awesome way to meditate on the word of God!

I know that the Lord will use this delay to better prepare me for the mission in Perú and to serve his people around me while I wait for his prompting to move once more. Please keep the people of Perú and those God has called to serve them in your prayers. …We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). And pray for the strength and confidence to hold tight to his promises during the unknown.
