FLYING INTO SMOKE AND BEING WITH FAMILY!
The weekend of September 26th and 27th were a special time…our new Volunteer Missionary Pilot, Matt Ridge from Clarinda, Iowa was able to pick old Missionary Gary up at the Mapleton International Airport on Saturday and we flew out to land at the Grant, Nebraska airport….however, what we had never experienced was fly into NOT HEAVY CLOUDS, BUT HEAVY SMOKE! From the attached picture you can see Matt flying the aircraft and it was like flying into heavy fog…but it wasn’t fog….it was heavy smoke from the wildfires coming from the west. We had to turn on the lights on the runway at Grant so we could see the landing strip. What an experience!
Then, we were able to spend time with our dear friends, Lloyd, Becky and Josh Dahlkoetter at Grant, Nebraska….where we had an excellent meal and such good fellowship, and we had the privilege of being with our new friends Craig and Patty Clough, farmers from the area. Here you see our group at the Dahlkoetter home.
Coming home on Sunday we had a great tail wind, but another miracle was the landing at Mapleton, where there was a cross wind, but for us the Lord provided a safe landing. A real answer to prayer. HE IS ALWAYS WITH US!
