Mission Moments

Young Family News

We were blessed to join with 21,000 Lutheran youth in Minneapolis for the LCMS youth Gathering. We chaperoned children of missionaries serving in Ethiopia and countries in Eurasia, and connected with other International teens from around the world. Our youth made friends that they will remember and stay connected with.

The theme was based on Psalm 46. The first day emphasized that God is real –so we can be real with ourselves, others, and Him. The second day was focused on how God is present even in the difficult and challenging situations “an ever-present help in trouble”. The last day focused on the majesty of God and that He is our fortress.
Each theme was explored during morning Bible Studies, group devotions, and evening Mass events where everyone came together to praise and worship.

The Coffee Hour – #NYG2019: Life as Missionary Kids.  Noah Rabe, (lives in Ethiopia), and Grace were interviewed on KFUO to talk about being part of missionary families. You can hear them on the Coffee Hour Archives:

“For me it was an awesome opportunity to serve, to be surrounded by fellow Christians, and reminded that even though I’m in college/a young adult, I’m not along in having faith and the choices I make.”  Sydney Young (Served as a Young Adult Volunteer)

“It was powerful to have so many other kids my age all shouting that our God is Real, Present and So Good. My trust in God is strengthened and I’ve never felt the presence of the Holy Spirit more.”  Grace Young

Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.
