Micah Wildauer Update
As per request from Pastor Brent Smith, here is the following Wildauer family update regarding our status with respect to the coronavirus:
First of all, thank you all for the prayers offered for my family while in Togo and for all missionaries throughout the world. It is the most important thing you can do for those who are abroad, serving the Church while away from close family.
Secondly, having considered the counsel and direction of the LCMS Office of International Mission, it has been decided that it is best for my family to be brought back to the United States during this time. The questions surrounding this decision were certainly a battle between my vocation as a father and that as a missionary and pastor.
Being that we have been serving an international community in Dapaong, we have students from various countries to consider. At this time, my colleague Rev. Jacob Gaugert will continue on in Dapaong. We pray for his ongoing care and for the well-being of the community.
As for our family, it has been a whirlwind of activity over the past four days. We are currently in Lomé, Togo awaiting the next available flight to the US, most likely on Tuesday. Getting to Lomé was one thing, getting to the States will be another.
The good news is that we fear not, for the Lord is with us. He is our ever-present help in trouble, we fear no evil. The kids have been rock solid throughout all of this and each of them has expressed his or her confidence in various ways. Robin and I have mutually shared our concerns but have also been able to reassure each other along the way.
Our strength comes from the Lord. That’s why we daily pray "Deliver us from evil."
