Rev. Duane and Elizabeth Meissner serve the Lord as missionaries in Belize. In this role, Duane’s unique and exciting objective is to plant the very first Lutheran churches in that country! He also works to support LCMS human care and mercy projects in the country.
Duane was born and raised in central Texas, attending church and school at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Austin, and living on his parent’s small farm in Hutto. He received a bachelor’s degree in church music from Concordia University Texas, Austin, and his Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Before serving in Belize, Duane was blessed to serve as the senior pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Barnhart, Mo. His hobbies include nature hikes, writing and playing/singing pre-classical music.
Elizabeth was born and initially raised in Oakmont, Pa., but she moved with her family to San Antonio, Texas, when she was young. She attended Concordia University Texas, Austin, where she met Duane, and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration/management. Prior to becoming a missionary, Elizabeth worked in transportation logistics for a company in St. Louis and volunteered at St. Louis Crisis Nursery. In her free time, she enjoys photography, gardening and reading. Duane and Elizabeth have been married since 2004 and have four children – Marcie, Maverick, Ayana and Abigail – who are excited to join them on the mission field.
Pray for the health and safety of the Meissner family as they continue their work in Belize. Pray for a faithful reception of the Gospel by the Belizean people, and for successful church plants across the country according to God’s will. Pray also for the mercy work done by the Belize Mission Society, that the love of God can be seen in all that we do.
