Kayla Hoem serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as a missionary in Spain. In this role, she works with the LCMS mission team in Spain to develop publicity and a social media presence to connect Spaniards with the Word and Sacrament ministry of the Church. Kayla also coordinates English language tutoring and enrichment activities to serve the local community and to expand the Church’s contacts in this country. Through these interactions, she seeks to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the people of Spain.
Kayla’s hometown is Maple Grove, Minn., and her home congregation is Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Plymouth, Minn. She received a bachelor’s degree in retail merchandising, with a minor in Spanish studies, from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, Minneapolis. Kayla’s hobbies include music (playing the violin, ukulele, recorder and piano), crafts, reading, traveling, language and learning about different cultures.
Before becoming an LCMS missionary, Kayla participated in several weeklong mission trips in Latin America. She taught English as a foreign language in the classroom and through private tutoring in Seville, Spain (while studying and living abroad). She also taught Spanish as a foreign language at a private school and as an after-school program back home in Minnesota.
Please pray for Kayla as she serves in Spain. Ask God to help make her support raising activities and move back to Spain go quickly and smoothly. Ask the Lord to prepare the hearts of the people in Spain to hear His Word and come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Ask God to guide Kayla and the entire LCMS mission team in Spain in finding the best way to reach the people of Spain with His message. Let us give thanks to God that Kayla is serving His children in this part of the world.
