Regional Conference and Arrival to Peru
The first week of August we were blessed to participate in the LAC regional conference (pictured above). This was such a wonderful time of fellowship and encouragement. A time to be in the Word and with our brother missionaries. Following the conference our family had COVID and we were forced to stay put for an extra week. While it was disappointing to be delayed we were blessed to get to see some good friends one last time while we were waiting for our flights to be rebooked.
We finally arrived in Lima on Tuesday Aug. 16. It has been a busy and exciting couple of weeks as we have been house hunting and getting to visit with the local churches and ministries. We are excited that we have found an apartment close to the main office, right in front of a park for our children to play. We will be able to move in on Sept. 15. The next few weeks will be dedicated to finding a daycare for the kids, getting furniture for the house, and working on residency paperwork for Caitlin. We are grateful to have this time now to focus on these necessary tasks so that they won’t be a distraction to ministry later on. We look forward to Jeancarlos’ ordination on October 23, 2022.

4 years passed quickly for our family in the Dominican Republic. Praise the Lord for all His blessings to our family and all His miracles which we got to be observers of participating in His ministry and church there.

A Time to be a Learner and Observer
Even though Peru is home for both Jeancarlos and Caitlin, we have been away from the work here for the last four years. So before we jump full steam ahead into the work of the mission we are taking careful time to be a listener, learner and observer. We are visiting each mission site, participating in services, bible studies and activities as a regular church member without leading anything. We’ve been joining team meetings, reviewing strategic plans, budgets and planning for the future. This gives us a chance to get to know the new members, reconnect with old members, and to see what has been happening with ministry while we have not be here. We have been amazed to see all the good that the Lord has done in our absence. He has been faithful to His church and has continued to bless the work in Peru. We are overjoyed to see what is going on here and begin to consider what role we will play in the coming months and years.
In October we will have the 1st National Assembly of La Mision Lutherana del Peru. We will join all our churches together for a joint worship service and a meeting to discuss two main topics. First enrolling women in the deaconess training program of the seminary, with the end result of having deaconesses serving in the Peruvian church. Secondly, the church body will discuss the office of Holy Ministry and issue a call to Jeancarlos to serve as Pastor for the church. |

Pictured Above the Peruvian Día del Niño or Day of the Child. This is a special day in the calendar to celebrate the children, similar to Mother´s Day.
Psalm 127:3 – Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him.
