Our First Official Semester is DONE!
This month’s letter is about this milestone in the life of the Rīga Luther Academy’s English Studies Program. While our school shares similarities with every school and our end-of-semester activity is like that of other schools–papers, tests, etc.–our school is unlike any other I know of.
Our students all share a deep desire to serve the Lord Jesus Christ in His Church. And to do that they have taken courses by meeting every evening during their week, Monday through Friday since September. They have done so
- after working at their various jobs, sometimes starting class on their phone while still commuting home.
- in English–their 2nd or 3rd language–listening, reading, writing, and responding orally in their classes.
- having traveled to Wittenberg to be together for a week of lectures, using vacation time in many cases to be there.
- with Christian faith and commitment to their desire to be messengers of the Gospel in their own countries.
I hope you will read this “report card” of this first semester and know that their work and commitment and that of their teachers and the staff of the Luther Academy is in answer to Jesus’ Great Commission and empowered by your partnership and prayers.
To God be the glory!
Thanks for reading!
Yours in Christ Jesus,
Charles Cortright, Theological Educator, Eurasia Region
