A year ago we had planned to meet this fall in Omaha, Nebraska to set out our plans for ministry in Jamaica. How things change in just a few months! Just as ministry in North America is not what it was a year ago, so too for ministry in Kingston. The COVID pandemic, which seemed distant from Jamaica through the summer, is now being felt more significantly. Church activities are being limited, and schools – including Parade Gardens Lutheran School – are seeing temporary closures. Classrooms once filled with children are now quiet. As in many countries, ministry is adjusting. The Lord remains at work.
Join missionaries, local workers, and US partners for our Fall virtual FORO on Saturday, October 17, at 9:00 am Central Daylight Time. We will hear from Pastor Ite on how COVID is impacting work in the field, and how the school is adapting. Pastor St-Onge will lead a quick update on the Ministry Centre, including progress on finalizing the deed and zoning. Erin Mackenzie will discuss timelines for short term teams returning to the field and needs, and Blake Warren will give a quick snapshot of our budget for the year and the impact FORO giving has on continuing the work during uncertain financial times.
Don’t forget to RSVP (the link is corrected and should work now) and save the Zoom information below to join the meeting if your schedule allows. Here is our agenda for Saturday morning. We expect to end before 11:30 AM.
