Dear friends in Christ around the world,
Blessings on your January! Since you last heard from us, my chaplaincy work has taken us to Italy where we celebrated the Savior’s birth with fellow mission workers and "lone Lutherans" in the Venice area and in Abruzzo. That’s the main story we’re sharing this month.
We reported last month that we are moving, too. After returning briefly to St. Petersburg, we traveled to Rīga, Latvia to meet with my new colleagues at the Luther Academy (seminary), find an apartment, and apply for our visa. Mission accomplished, but we then separated as I (Chuck) went to Odessa, Ukraine to lead a preaching seminar for a week and Connie returned to St. Petersburg to begin getting ready for our move.
I will make a brief trip to Moscow (!) to teach a seminar on the Old Testament the week of January 19th and when I return, we will pack and move to Rīga via train. We came to Europe in six suitcases and a box and are hoping to move to Latvia with the same number!
We’re excited about the move and to working in our new setting. THANK YOU for your continuing interest, prayers and support. We’ll send our next letter from Rīga in mid-February.
The Lord be with you and yours,
In Christ,
Chuck & Connie Cortright
