Warren Family Newsletter

November 2020

We pray this newsletter finds you healthy, safe, and filled with God’s peace during these times of uncertainty for our world.
We would like share with you some exciting news for our family and the way God is using us in His mission in Latin America.  In the coming weeks we will be moving to St. Louis, Missouri.  Blake will continue to serve as the business manager for the Latin America region while also assisting with mission projects across all regions.  OIM (Office of International Mission) Leadership believe that this move will best utilize Blake’s gifts and talents to serve the mission moving forward, and we wholeheartedly agree.  Please read below for more details on how this impacts our family and other details of Blake’s involvement in LCMS mission.

¡Alabanza a Dios! (Praise the Lord!)

We continue to thank the Lord for the laborers He has placed in the harvest.  We have four seminary graduates that have recently been ordained in their home countries of Mexico, Peru, and Bolivia.

What is our timeline?

Our current plan:(we say current plan because when we make plans during a pandemic, we have to take into consideration that anything and everything has the possibility to change at any time).

We will pack up, sell, or give away our belongings here in the Dominican Republic, say our goodbyes, and close this chapter of our lives in the next few weeks.
We fly to California on December 14th.
We will spend Christmas and vacation time with family members.  We will pack up and prepare to move the belongings we have stored in California.
We will drive to St. Louis in mid-January where we will stay in temporary housing until we are able to find a house.

Your prayers during weeks and changes are much appreciated as we navigate the emotions and complicated process of an international move during a pandemic.

What Changes and What Stays the Same?

We still need your financial support! Our position is officially a redeployment and we will still be funded via mission gifts.  We are grateful for the loyal supporters we have had over the last 5 years who have allowed us to continue to serve.  As we approach this new opportunity we are are anxious to see what the Lord has in store for our family.

In the DR Blake supports the work of the LAC region and missionaries in 16 additional countries.  For this work nothing will change as he will continue to support this work remotely and travel when needed.

The main difference in Blake’s role will be the local administration support provided in the Dominican Republic.  This includes support for the local church planting efforts in the Dominican, the regional seminary, and assisting with orientation of new missionaries.  We are thankful the Lord has provided a new missionary family who will be coming to the DR as the associate business manager and will transition into some of these roles.

Additionally Blake will be working on a few projects to consolidate financial systems between the International Center and the field offices.  This is a major project that is expected to provide more information and require less administrative work by missionaries serving in the field.  There is also a desire to utilize some of the fundamental aspects of the FORO’s in Latin America to help connect donors more directly with the work in other parts of the world.

We want to continue to partner with you while we serve the LCMS and the mission.  We will continue to need your financial and prayer support.  AND one of our favorite parts of being involved with the mission is sharing the exciting ways God is working all over the world.  We will continue to send newsletters and updates to you about the work going on in the field.

Short Term Teams
virtual style

Yes! There are still short term teams happening.  This is largely due to our two amazing volunteer coordinators, Erin and Courtney.  This past week the first virtual short term team occurred and it was a huge success.  Participants didn’t need a passport to visit the Dominican Republic and learn about the work God is doing here because our team found a way to bring the work to them.  Our family even had a chance to participate.  Be on the look out for more opportunities to participate in upcoming events.

New Missionaries!

God continues to send new missionaries to the field.  We are in awe at His handiwork and grateful. Please keep these new missionaries in your prayers as they prepare to deploy and attend orientation in the Dominican Republic.   (Pictured below is the Wildauer family who will head to Belize after they complete orientation in the DR.)
