Visiting Seminary Professors

A significant means of supporting Lutheran seminaries in West Africa is to send visiting professors from seminaries in Ft. Wayne and St. Louis for short visits and instruction trips. These funds finance some of the incidentals (accommodations, meals, transportation etc.) of such trips.

Missionary Led Theological Education

Missionaries Rev. Dale Kaster and Rev. Steven Schumacher serve as theological educators in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ghana (ELCG). Rev. EECMY-SCES Bible School Scholarships

Mt. Tabor seminary in Hawassa Ethiopia trains pastors in a catchment area for about 2 million Lutherans. A Bachelors in Theology is provided. Currently the Mekane Yesus church has almost 14,000 congregations with only 2,800 pastors. Cost for a student to attend this regional seminary is $1000 per year per student. This project provides Bible School Scholarships for students.

Health and Hygiene Education

Throughout East Africa, there is a need for more understanding of how our bodies work and how to properly care for them in order to obtain good health. Coordinated medical support through the East Africa field nurse, LCMS Mercy Medical Teams, and local clinics provide teaching aimed to improve the health of local communities.
