NEWS FROM BECKY BARTELT
…..Serving the Lord in Taiwan/Asia
Advent Reflections:
This will be an interesting Advent for me. It will be the first time in 24 years I have not been preparing students for a Christmas concert. It will be the first time in 24 years I have not been stressing and rejoicing with students as they get ready to share their God-given talents in praise of the One Who was born, wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger, so that He might be laid on a cross, die and rise again for our salvation. I have been reminded over and over again this Advent by friends on Facebook that Advent is equally about preparing–well, rejoicing that Jesus has prepared us for His coming again. So many are not ready–do not know that the gift in the manger is the One Who gives us faith through His Spirit in baptism. I am preparing to leave for Taiwan on January 17th. Please pray for me as I get ready to leave, spend some special time with family and depart to share this wonderful news in word and song in Taiwan.
Fargo, ND
My last trip to make presentations was to Fargo, North Dakota. Immanuel Lutheran Church supported me spiritually while I was in college and financially while I was in Kazakhstan and India. I was graciously hosted by my friend Bonnie Kittelson. Karlene, one of my college roommates, came to catch up and learn about God’s work in Asia. I also got to have dinner and catch up with Pastor Bernie (my pastor during college), his wife Carolyn and Bonnie. Thanks to Immanuel Lutheran Church for welcoming me into your family in college and always! And thank you to Grace Lutheran School for letting me share with all the students about being a music missionary.
Farewell and Godspeed:
On Sunday, December 11th my church family at Immanuel Lutheran in Lincoln, NE had a Farewell and Godspeed blessing at the end of the service followed by a time of fellowship at a potluck. These people and our under-shepherd Pastor Bloom have been great blessings to me during my three years in Lincoln and especially during the time of Covid. Thank you for your support, encouragement, prayers and lovely send-off!
