Rev. Joe and Deaconess Dr. Jennie Asher serve the Lord in Germany. Joe serves as the pastor of Kaiserslautern Evangelical Lutheran Church (KELC), which serves the surrounding English-speaking community. He also reaches out and serves the United States military personnel living on the military bases in the area.
Jennie organizes the children’s ministry and assists with ministry to the women in the congregation. In addition, she works with the LCMS partner church in Germany, Selbständige Evangelisch—Lutherische Kirche (SELK), to coordinate GEO (globally engaged in outreach) missionaries from the United States who come to Germany to assist in reaching out to refugees. Jennie also serves the LCMS as the interim director of Communications for the Eurasia region and as a facilitator for online missiological studies offered to other LCMS missionaries.
Joe and Jennie are members of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Apostles, Melrose Park, Ill. Joe received a bachelor’s degree in communication from Indiana University, Bloomington, his Master of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, and a master’s degree in communication from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind. In his free time, Joe enjoys writing and traveling.
Jennie received a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in special education from St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minn. She earned a Certificate of Advanced Studies and her deaconess certification from Concordia University Chicago, River Forest, Ill., and her doctorate in educational technology from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Ill. In her free time, Jennie enjoys baking, cooking and gardening.
Please pray for the Ashers as they serve in Germany. Pray that the Lord would open doors to reaching U.S. military personnel in the Kaiserslautern area. Pray that they are effective in teaching and boldly witness to the Gospel. Let us give thanks that the Ashers are serving in this part of the world.
